Tank water that looks clear is not the same as tank water that is clean. Rain picks up dust, leaves and bird droppings on the way to your tank, and nobody tests what comes out of it. When the University of Auckland sampled household tanks, 78 percent of the North Auckland ones were over the E. coli limit. This system does both jobs. Twin filtration catches the sediment you can see. The UV kills the bacteria you cannot, without adding anything to your water.

The twin arrives assembled on its stainless bracket with both Pentair cartridges fitted, plus the UV chamber and lamp, and the job card your plumber needs. Shipped free and tracked, anywhere in New Zealand. The UV unit needs a power point nearby and shelter from the weather, which the job card also covers.

Three Stages, In Order

Stage 1: Sediment

The Pentair gradient cartridge catches the dirt, silt and fine particles that wash into your tank, so they never reach your taps.

Lasts 6 to 12 months - depends on water quality and household size.

Stage 2: Carbon

The radial flow carbon cartridge deals with the earthy taste and smell tank water picks up sitting in storage.

Replaced with every refill - $345 on the Tank Filter Plan, UV lamp included.

Stage 3: UV

UV light kills bacteria and other microorganisms as the water passes through. It adds nothing to your water. UV only works properly behind good filtration, which is why the stages come in this order.

Lamp lasts around 12 months - it dims before it dies, so it's a scheduled change.
