This is Pentair's modern tankless generation of reverse osmosis, now in New Zealand. Made by Pentair, 90+ years in water since 1933, sold here with NZ stock and NZ support. Reverse osmosis in a unit 12.5 centimetres wide. No storage tank - it fills your glass in seconds, no waiting. Cartridge changes take one press and pull from the front. The unit tells you when, with a light and a buzzer.

Independently lab-tested (report FW250926-28-C) against volatile phenols, trichloromethane, carbon tetrachloride, arsenic, cadmium, chromium-6, lead, fluoride and nitrates. It removes 99.9% of microplastics in published testing, and under-sink RO removed forever chemicals by 94% or more in the Duke and NC State universities study. It takes out around 90% of fluoride. Stage 2: Reverse Osmosis Purification

An ultra-fine reverse osmosis filter eliminates the harmful chemicals - 99.9% of microplastics, 94%+ of PFAS, around 90% of fluoride, plus lead, chromium-6, arsenic and nitrates.

Replaced in year three - the $395 third-year refill has the membrane in it.

Both are reverse osmosis. The old generation stores its water in a pressurised tank that fills the cupboard and refills slowly between glasses. The ES60 is Pentair's newer tankless platform. A slim 12.5cm unit that fills your glass in seconds, with one-touch cartridge changes and a filter-due light. Same job at the tap, without the tank.

Not necessarily. Any plumber fits it in under an hour, and plenty of handy people fit it themselves in an afternoon. A tee into the cold line, its own tap, a drain connection and a powerpoint - nothing is built into the house, so it comes with you if you move.

Older tank systems send most of what they draw down the drain. The ES60 holds Pentair's first-class water efficiency rating - at least 65% of the water it draws comes out as drinking water.

The unit tells you - a filter-due light on the front panel and a buzzer. Changes are one press and pull from the front, no tools. On the Filter Plan, the refill arriving is the reminder.
