Inside is a genuine Pentair CBC carbon block - chlorine taste, odour and sediment, down to half a micron. The housing is WaterMark certified (P/N N158179W). Renting? It moves with you.

Carbon is the right tool for chlorine taste, odour and sediment at the tap it is fitted to, and this is a serious carbon block, not a jug cartridge. What carbon does not do: fluoride, PFAS or microplastics - whatever anyone tells you, those take reverse osmosis. And it filters one tap, not the whole house - that is the twin system's job. No. Carbon does not remove fluoride, whatever anyone tells you - that is a job for reverse osmosis. This filter is about chlorine taste, odour and sediment at your drinking tap. When fluoride, PFAS and microplastics are the concern, the Pentair ES60 is the machine.

About once a year for a typical household. Pentair rates the CBC block for around 75,000 litres of chlorine reduction, and a household's drinking and cooking water runs well inside that in a year. The refill plan just posts the new one when it is due - $59, billed only when it ships.

At the tap it is fitted to, the water quality is the same job done well. What it cannot do is cover your showers and the rest of the house - that is what the $895 twin at the mains is for. Plenty of people start here and upgrade later, and nothing about this filter is wasted if you do.

Different design: a three-litre reservoir you fill by hand and a plug-in pump, launched in the United States in August 2026 and not for sale in New Zealand yet.
